Service Description

Learn how to Game Master (GM) tabletop roleplaying games from one of our experienced in-house professional game masters/writers! This is a five week, five session course that includes both our theory behind running a game and time spent actually running a guided game for the other course attendees. Each four hour session runs from 6-10pm and starts with an hour spent covering the basics of guiding a group through a compelling story: - Week 1, Tuesday 1/14: Overview, Course Preparation, Safety Tools, and Session 0s - Week 2, Tuesday 1/21: Running a Session - Week 3, Tuesday 1/28: Pre-Session Planning - Week 4, Tuesday 2/4: Adjusting on the Fly - Week 5, Tuesday 2/11: Concluding a Session + Expanding into a Campaign The next two hours are spent with one attendee running a two hour one-shot for the other attendees, with guidance from our staff GM. The final hour wraps up with a recap and roundtable, with the group providing helpful, positive feedback to the attendee running that week's session. Our goal is that by the end of this course attendees should feel comfortable running published content for small groups using the 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons ruleset. We will cover altering/adjusting content to better fit the group or narrative flow, but this is not a writing workshop; we will be covering how to write roleplaying adventures in a separate course for those already comfortable with running a game. This course is being led by GM Sage, with other GMs coming to chat with the group from time to time depending on the topic.
